The first CHM hotel was in Penang in 1997 with the opening of the 4-star Cititel Penang, followed by the 646-room Cititel Mid Valley in one of Asia's largest one-stop destination for living, business and leisure - the Mid Valley City, Kuala Lumpur.
In line with its strategic plans, the St Giles brand with four distinctive product positioning, ranging from Boutique, Grand, Premier and Classic was introduced in Asia Pacific. Keeping with the sophistication of today's travellers, each St Giles whilst retaining its local flavours, offers a wholesome city stay experience. The first St Giles to debut was in 2010, with the opening of the 512-room St Giles Makati-Classic Hotel, strategically located in the bustling of Metro Manila. Corresponding this, the 5-star Gardens Hotel & Residences and the 4-star Boulevard Hotel in Kuala Lumpur were re-branded as St Giles The Gardens-Grand Hotel & Residences and St Giles Boulevard-Premier Hotel. Early April of 2015, the St Giles Wembley, a Premier category in Penang located in George Town city's iconic landmark of Wembley Theatre, open with 415 rooms. The latest addition, St Giles Tank Stream in Sydney is now open.
Joining the foray of the Cititel Express in Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu and Ipoh is the Cititel Express Penang ; adjacent to St Giles Wembley, recently open with 234 rooms ideal for the budget travellers.
Today, Cititel Hotel Management (CHM) operates 10 properties, providing a varied selection of accommodation ranging from three to five-star hotels inclusive of MiCasa All Suite Hotel, Kuala Lumpur with a combined total of over 3,800 rooms and employee strength of over 2,100 across Malaysia and Philippines.
